NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport (One year)

OVERVIEW

The NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport is suitable for ambitious learners passionate about starting a career in sport.

This is a practical work-related qualification which will allow learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of the sport and active leisure sector. Over the course learners will gain and develop essential skills that are valued by employers and higher and further education institutions. Above all, learners are provided with the introductory skills to either start a career in sport or progress within employment in the sport and active leisure sector.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

- 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and/or Maths at grade 3 or higher, or a prior achievement at level 1.

- A GCSE PE/Sport Studies qualification would also be advantageous and you will need to be able to demonstrate a reasonable degree of fitness.

CONTENT | UNITS

During the course you will study a total of seven internally assessed units. These may include, but are not limited too;

- Anatomy and physiology for sport

- Participating in sport

- Sports coaching

- Psychology for sports performance

- Factors affecting participation in sport and physical activity

Alongside your main programme of study, you will also study GCSE English and/or maths if you have not yet achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above.

ASSESSMENT

Your NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport will take place over one year and is 100% coursework assessed; delivered through a series of innovative projects which are designed to develop your independent learning as the year progresses.

GCSE qualifications are assessed through external examinations and coursework.

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:

- Apply to study the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, ideally you will need to have achieved a Merit or above

- Pursue a sport related career
